Trivia – who am I?
My father was a laborer and my mother a teenage orphan making a living as a sharecropper. After I was born, my father abandoned my mother and me. My brother George drowned in my mother’s washtub when he was four. I began to lose my sight at five years of age and was completely blind by age seven. My mother used her connections to enroll me in the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. There, I learned how to play classical piano by reading braille scores. But I was more interested in jazz, blues, and country. I soon established my first group, RC Robinson and the Shop Boys, and I eventually went solo—with three Billboard #1 hits and 11 top ten singles.
